Ambati Rayudu not picked in India A, 5 other squads after England snub; here's why
Mumbai: A successful stint with the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2018 paved way for Ambati Rayudu’s return to the Indian squad for the three-match ODI series against England.
However, just when it looked that Rayudu is set for bigger and better things, a failed Yo-Yo test, a fitness test which has become a mandatory measure to make it to the Indian cricket team, cut short his comeback. Suresh Raina, who was a part of India’s T20I squad, replaced the stylish Hyderabadi batsman in the side for the ODI series.
Rayudu has now failed to make the cut to any of the six squads the selectors picked the India A and India B squads for quadrangular series, India A squad for the two four-day games against South Africa A and the India Blue, Red and Green squads for the Duleep Trophy.
According to a Mumbai Mirror report, Rayudu, who could not achieve the desired score on Yo-Yo test ahead of the England series and was pulled out on June 15, has not appeared for the Yo-Yo test in the six-week time period given by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and sought more time.
The report further stated that Rayudu, who travelled to England with CSK’s junior squad, has requested BCCI to give an extended two-week time so that he can appear for the Yo-Yo test.
