Mahendra Singh Dhoni's boys practise with wet balls

In order to combat dew, coach R Sridhar chalks out a plan.

Mirpur: Since dew could be a factor in the day-night T20 encounters in the Asia Cup in Bangladesh, Team India fielding coach R Sridhar chalked out a plan for his players.

Ahead of the opener against Bangladesh, Sridhar wet the leather and sent out high catches for the fielders.

BCCI uploaded a video of Sridhar soaking the ball in a bucket and then, hitting it out to his players placed in strategic positions.

He instructed the fielders to come under the light and pluck the leather. A perfect match situation, isn’t it?

If there is dew on pitch, bowling becomes extremely difficult. Spinners fail to grip and lose their variations. The ball gains more shine and it is difficult to judge a swinging delivery.

But at the same time, it is comfortable for the batsmen for the ball comes straight and direct.

However, the most affected is fielding. If one doesn’t time himself well, he is bound to slip and injure himself leave aside dropping a catch. A wet outfield can lead to embarrassing situations for good fielders as well.
