IPL 2018: Malinga, Mathews and all 18 Sri Lanka players taking part in auction

While there are 360 Indian players who will go under the hammer, there will be 18 players from Sri Lanka who will be a part of the auctions.

Mumbai: Over the years, Sri Lankan cricketers have built a strong reputation in the cash-rich Indian Premier League. From Sanath Jayasurya during the early seasons to Lasith Malinga now, a lot of cricketers from the island nation have represented for the various IPL teams.

Malinga and Angelo Mathews returns to the Sri Lankan players’ list in the IPL auctions this year, an event which promises to be a big affair.

While there are 360 Indian players who will go under the hammer, there will be 18 players from Sri Lanka who will be a part of the auctions in Bengaluru in the upcoming weekend.

For players like Akila Dhananjaya, it will be a first for them, as it will be their debut season in the IPL, if they get picked up.

Niroshan Dickwella and Kusal Perera will be other Sri Lankans in focus, whereas Akila Dhanajaya, who took a hattrick against India, will also be another highlight

The IPL auctions are scheduled to be held in Bengaluru on January 27 and 28, and 578 players from all over the world will come under the hammer when the two-day event kicks off.
