Kedar Jadhav, Shardul Thakur named in India squad for South Africa ODIs

Virat Kohli and co will play six ODIs against South Africa, starting with the first match on February 1.

Mumbai: Off-break bowler Kedar Jadhav and pacer Shardul Thakur were on Saturday named in the 17-man squad for the ODI series against South Africa early next year.Two of the notable omissions, meanwhile, have been that of Umesh Yadav and KL Rahul.

Shreyas Iyer has retained his place in Virat Kohli’s side, whereas the spin trio of Kuldeep Yadav, Axar Patel and Yuzvendra Chahal will also take part.

Rohit Sharma will once again be Virat Kohli’s deputy, while Manish Pandey and Dinesh Karthik have also made the cut. Ajinkya Rahane, too, will hope to get more opportunities as he too has been named in the squad.

Following the Test series, Virat Kohli and co will play six ODIs against South Africa, starting with the first match on February 1. This will then be followed by three T20s, which concludes the long tour to the rainbow nation.
