Ton of joy for C V Anand

Nithin, Kumar, Vallabh too hit centuries; Nitheesh, Srinivas top bowlers.

Naga Nithin of Picket Cricket Club smashed an unbeaten 156 to emerge the higest individual scorer in the Hyderabad Cricket Association’s One-Day League Championship matches held in the city. Nithin’s knock and Vallabh Reddy’s 100 propelled Picket CC to 428 for 8 in 35 overs and put the game virtually out of Ranga Reddy District’s reach. RR eventually folded for just 47. In another match, C. V. Anand hit an unbeaten 100 to guide Secunderabad Club to a six-wicket win over Amberpet CC, which had made 239 for 5 in 35 overs. IPS officer Anand led the willow charge for Secunderabad Club with his belligerent knock as the team overhauled the target in 33 overs to hand Amberpet their first defeat in 13 games this season. The Sporty Supercop made good on a promise he had made earlier in the week to hit a century in the upcoming league match.

Jai Kisolklar played second fiddle with a steady 78. In another match, Kumar of Tarakarama scored an emphatic 117 not out against Hyderabad Patriots. Riding on Kumar’s ton, Tarakarama made 269 for 4. In reply, Hyderabad Patriots were bowled out for 205. Mahesh and Vijay scored 64 and 30 runs respectively while Abhishek and Akhilesh snared four and three wickets each for Tarakarama.
K. Srinivas took the bowling honours. He scalped 5 wickets while conceding 33 runs to lead IICT to a win over Syndicate Bank. Batting first, the Bankmen found Srinivas too hot to handle and were out for a mere 126. IICT chased the target in 20 overs as K.S. Srinivas and Hari Krishna Reddy scored 39 and 34 respectively even as Jayanand Patel picked 4 wickets for Syndicate Bank.
