Veteran pacer Jhulan Goswami announces international retirement from T20Is

Goswami is currently the leading wicket-taker in the women's ODI format and also the first woman to pick up 200 ODI wickets.

Mumbai: Indian veteran fast bowler Jhulan Goswami on Thursday announced her retirement from the T20I format with immediate effect. The right-handed pacer represented India in 68 matches where she claimed 56 scalps.

Her announcement means that she won't participate in the upcoming women's World T20, slated to take place in West Indies during November 2019.

"Goswami thanked the BCCI and her teammates for all the love and support she garnered during her stint with the T20I team and wished them luck going forward. BCCI and the entire Women’s national team wishes her the best and looks forward to her valuable contributions when she represents India in other two formats," the BCCI said in a statement.

Goswami is currently the leading wicket-taker in the women’s ODI format and also the first woman to pick up 200 ODI wickets.
