The Chennai franchise, along with Rajasthan Royals are returning to the eight-team tournament after two years, having been suspended due to spot-fixing.
The Jharkhand batsman, who was retained by CSK along with Suresh Raina and Ravindra Jadeja, played for Rising Pune Supergiant for the past two years, a team which reached the final last season.
The 11th edition of the IPL will kick off on April 7, with a match between Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
