Watch Adelaide Strikers' Ben Laughlin, Jake Weatherald's peach of a catch in BBL
Adelaide: As Adelaide Strikers and Melbourne Renegades in the Big Bash League on Monday, Ben Laughlin and Jake Weatherald produced a moment of magic with a breathtaking catch that had everyone talking.
Former Australia cricketer, Michael Slater, seated in the commentary box described it as the "the best catch you'll ever see".
With the Renegades chasing 174, Rashid Khan came into the attack during the 16th over to face Dwayne Bravo. The West Indian all-rounder lofted the Afghan spinner over the covers and looked like clearing the boundary rope at deep cover.
However, Laughlin had other plans. The Australian ran backwards towards the line and took hold of the catch. With not enough control to keep in the line, Laughlin whipped the ball backwards some 30 metres odd.
Weatherald, showing great fielding positioning, kept his eyes on the ball and dived forward to produce a exceptional piece of teamwork.

Fair to say that alone has lifted the @BBL fielding standard for the season.

"I just ran at him because I thought he caught the catch but he made it a bit harder for himself for taking a few more steps," Weatherald said describing the catch.
Following Bravo’s dismissal, Adelaide cruised control over the opposition to clinch a 26-run victory in the end. Batting first, Adelaide rode on half-centuries by Travis Head (58) and Colin Ingram's (68) to post 173-5 in 20 overs. However in the chase, Melbourne kept losing wickets at regular intervals to help Adelaide extend their domination on top of the BBL table.
