Sri Lankan team took second ODI defeat more seriously

The head coach, Mickey Arthur tried to pacify the \"crying\" players in the dressing room

Colombo: The entire Sri Lankan team was saddened to lose the second ODI against India on Tuesday.

This was revealed by one insider.

"The young players took the second match defeat more seriously than the first ODI", the source pointed out.

The head coach, Mickey Arthur, however, did try to pacify the "crying" players in the dressing room, it was learnt.

"If we win the match the credit should be given to all team members and similarly if we lose the blame should be on all of us, he said something like this to the players".

"Anyhow boys, take rest on Wednesday and come fresh on Thursday", the players were told after the match.

The Sri Lankan team will practice in the morning (10.30 to 12.30) on Thursday before playing the last ODI on Friday.

The video showing coach and the captain Dasun Shanaka debating on a subject became viral and the TV commentator Russel Arnold could not resist the temptation of expressing his comments, saying the conversation should not have happened on the field but in the dressing room.

The coach was quick to respond : "Russ (Arnold) we win together and lose together but we learn all the time. Dasun and myself are growing a team and we both were very frustrated we did not get over the line. It was actually a very good debate, no need to make mischief out of it".
