Video| Mohammad Amir runs through Alex Hales

Pakistan pacer dismissed the England opener early on for 10 in the second Test at Manchester.

Mumbai: Mohammad Amir — who struggled without a wicket for a long time in the Lord’s Test against England — showed glimpses of his genius self on the first day of the second Test at Old Trafford on Friday.

The pacer, who made a comeback to the British soil, six years after the spot-fixing incident which banned him for five years, uprooted Alex Hales’ stumps in the first hour.

The left-arm speedster, with raw pace and inswinger, ran in to hoodwink the right-hander for 10. The ball pitched and came in; Hales probably predicted the movement but couldn’t judge till the last minute and hence, he expressed his frustration after throwing the wicket away.

At Lord’s, Pakistan beat England by 75 runs with Amir picking up three wickets overall; he dismissed Cook for 81 in the first innings and cleaned up the tail (2/39) which included the wicket of Stuart Broad who had scored a hundred in the 2010 Test.

The Manchester battle is still open because James Anderson is all set to breathe fire on the Pakistan batsmen. All-rounder Ben Stokes is back in fray as well.
