Pune: After beating Kings XI Punjab in the concluding league fixture, M.S. Dhoni revealed a secret behind Chennai Super Kings’ consistent show in the IPL. CSK have entered playoffs in all nine editions they have competed in.
“We have a set of people (in the management) who are very close to the players, that makes it very easy for the captain,” said Dhoni.
“Also we have a really good team. Right from the first edition, we kept adding players and they kept performing... the big challenge will be in two years when most of these players won’t be around,” he added.
Dhoni is someone who believes in the process. “We like to do the process right because that’s what gives you the results. I remember (all) the finals, where it went wrong: you need to remember where it went wrong. On that particular day you have to be at your best because everyone wants to win. All of those things matter.”
CSK emerged as one of the most successful teams in the opening decade by winning the title twice, finishing runners-up on four occasions and making the cut in all eight seasons between 2008 and 2015.
This year, CSK qualified as No 2 on the points table with nine wins (18 points) from 14 outings that allows for a second shot at a spot in the final.
