IPL 2018: Here's the complete list of 10 Afghanistan cricketers in players' auction
Mumbai: The player’s auction for the eleventh edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is just a few days away and all the eight franchises will be looking to buy the best players from the auction pool to strengthen their team. The bidding war, which is surely going to attract a lot of eyeballs, is all set to take place in Bengaluru on January 27 and 28.
Afghanistan cricket players have been making all the right noises in the cricketing world with their inspired performances. The two of the star players Mohammad Nabi and Rashid Khan have been making a name for themselves in T20 leagues around the world.
In the last years edition of the IPL, leg-spinner Rashid and all-rounder Nabi became the first two cricketers from the nation to play IPL when they were picked by Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). Rashid in his debut season picked up 17 wickets from 14 games, while Nabi, who played only 3 matches, picked up 2 wickets.
While, Rashid enjoyed a successful stint, his teammate Nabi got only few games to play, in which he deceived batsmen with his various variations.
The duo went on to be part of various T20 franchises in the different leagues across different nations and contributed with many match-winning performances. While Nabi has a base price of Rs 50 lakhs, Rashid has set his base price at Rs 2 crore. While the leg-spinner has chances of being retained by Sunrisers Hyderbad, Nabi is expected to attract lot of buyers during auction.
While these two spinners are expected to get the limelight, there are many other Afghan cricketers who are looking to bag contract in the lucrative league.
Wicketkeeper-batsman Mohammad Shahzad and Shafiqullah Shafaq, Najibullah Zadran and couple of more players will be looking to find suitors. The list also contains surprise name of 16-year old Mujeeb Zadran, who is currently representing Afghanistan in the ongoing Under-19 World Cup in New Zealand.
