Hyderabad Cricket Association adopts Lodha guidelines

Members from the opposition camp wanted a detailed discussion on the subject and got vice-president Prakash Chand Jain to chair the meeting.

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Cricket Association unanimously adopted the recommendations of the Justice Lodha panel on Sunday.

“In the Special General Meeting of the Hyderabad Cricket Association held at Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium, members of the General Body have unanimously passed a resolution to amend the Memorandum, Rules and Regulations of the Hyderabad Cricket Association to bring it in conformity with the recommendations of the Supreme Court Committee headed by Hon’ble Justice Rajendra Mal Lodha as per the Judgment of the Hon’ble Supreme Court passed in Civil Appeal 4235 of 2014 (BCCI vs Cricket Association of Bihar & Others) dated 18th July 2016,” the HCA said in a statement.

There was much drama in the hall as President Arshad Ayub and almost all other office-bearers left soon after the resolution was adopted in a one-point agenda. Members supporting the ruling camp — a majority from among the 179 who had attended the SGM — too left the place.

However, members from the opposition camp wanted a detailed discussion on the subject and got vice-president Prakash Chand Jain to chair the meeting. He was the only one on the dais as members made their points. It was decided to have elections on December 24 and Jain was asked to appoint a returning officer.

Doubts remain whether this is deemed official though. For the record, the HCA statement makes no mention of the extended session.
