Sri Lanka vs India Watch Virat Kohli's reaction to Shikhar Dhawan-Rohit Sharma mix-up

India took a 1-0 lead in the five-match series thanks to Shikhar Dhawan (132 not out) and captain Virat Kohli (82 not out).

Dambulla: India captain Virat Kohli on Sunday led from the front as the team clinched the first ODI against Sri Lanka after beating the hosts by nine wickets.

After the Indian bowlers bundled out Sri Lanka for 216, it was the time for the batsmen to do the rest of the job. Even though Rohit Sharma got out early, Kohli and Shikhar Dhawan ensured that India do not lose any more wickets in the match.

Earlier in the Indian innings, there was a mix-up between Rohit Sharma and Dhawan. After playing a straight drive off Lasith Malinga in the fifth over, Rohit took off for a run, not knowing that a fielder had stopped the ball. Dhawan, on the other hand, was cautious enough but finally both of them managed to reach the other end, thereby completing a run.

Kohli who was in the dressing room, could not hide his smile while Rohit was quick to put up his hand and acknowledge his error.

India took a 1-0 lead in the five-match series thanks to Shikhar Dhawan (132 not out) and captain Kohli (82 not out). Earlier in the Sri Lankan innings, Indian bowlers – Axar Patel (3-34), Kedar Jadhav (2-26), Jasprit Bumrah (2-22) and Yuzvendra Chahal (2-60) – did not allow Sri Lanka to put up a big total.

Virat Kohli and co will hope to carry on this positive momentum when the two teams face-off once again in the second ODI on Thursday.
