League match: Aqib top show; Nikhil, Govind do well with cherry

In the match against St Moses, Bhavans rode on to Aqib's quick-fire 137 to post 283 on the board with the loss of eight wickets in 45 overs.

Hyderabad: Mohammed Aqib of Bhavans High School smashed a brilliant century and later performed well with the ball while S. Nikhil, Govind and Fiazan picked five wickets each to shine in the Hyderabad Cricket Association’s Inter-School league matches being played here in city on Sunday.

In the match against St Moses, Bhavans rode on to Aqib’s quick-fire 137 to post 283 on the board with the loss of eight wickets in 45 overs. Aqib dispatched 11 boundaries and two sixes in his 128-ball stint.

Later, in the second innings, Aqib took the bowling command and scalped three wickets while giving away 18 runs to help his side reduce St Moses to 110 for 9 from 45 overs and win comprehensively by 173 runs.

In the Elite category match, Wesley Junior College lost to I Class CDR Junior College after the latter chased down Wesley’s total of 125 with three wickets in hand.

Batting first, Wesley’s innings was wrapped up for 125, courtesy Fiazan who picked five for 30. While chasing, CDR Junior too faced jolts in regular intervals but managed to cross the finish line with Shaan Vivian (38) being their top scorer.

Meanwhile in the other match, S. Nikhil of Cal Public School picked five wickets to restrict Chirec for 125/9. In reply, Cal came hard at their opponents as Gaurng remained unbeaten on 77 to guide his side to a 9-wicket victory. In the match against Sultan Ul Loom, Don Bosco’s Govind picked 5/26 to anchor his team to a comfortable victory.
