Virat Kohli or MS Dhoni? When BCCI goof up on Indian captain led to Twitter jokes
Mumbai: Former India skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni is currently experiencing a tough time from his performance point of view. In an ODI series which Virat Kohli’s India lost 2-1 to England recently, the 37-year-old was heavily criticised for his slow-paced innings in the second and third ODIs.
While he scored 37 runs off 59 balls at Lord’s, he just managed to score 42 runs off 66 balls at Leeds in the third match.
In a recent blunder made in the Board of Control for Cricket in India’s (BCCI) official website, Dhoni’s designation under his name was still displayed as ‘Captain, India’, to which Twitterati reacted in a very hilarious way.
@BCCI dear bcci, please remember current captain of indian cricket team is king virat kohli not ms dhoni so please repair your mistake. pic.twitter.com/67U59wKpUJ

It feels like BCCI wants its previous captain(@msdhoni) to take charge again or they might have forgotten to update their website. However, as fan of MSD we appreciate BCCI for remembering MSD as a captain(Masterofstrategy)#MSDhoni #ViratKohli #BCCI #Indiancricketteam #Captain pic.twitter.com/UbcNm4F8Zf

The error was later corrected on Friday.
Virat Kohli took over the captaincy responsibilities for Tests back in December 2014, when Dhoni had retired from the same.
It was then in January 2017 when Kohli took over as permanent skipper for ODIs and T20Is from Dhoni, who continues to play both the formats.
