New Delhi: A major controversy took centre stage on Sunday, in between the India-Zimbabwe bilateral series, when Zimbabwean media reported that an Indian cricketer had been arrested on charges of rape. The confusion was soon cleared and it turned out that two Indians affiliated with the sponsors of the series were the culprits.
Who are they?
According to reports, the individuals — Krishna Satyanarayan (ITW Sports) and Rajkumar Krishnan (Zambia-based businessman) — were arrested by the Harare police for the crime.
The girl is from South Africa and she was attending a funeral in Harare. Police confirmed that she was raped by the two individuals who stayed at the same hotel (Meikles Hotel). The accused have been remanded in custody. They will apply for bail in the High Court soon.
However, MS Dhoni’s boys levelled the three-match T20I series with a 10-wicket win on Monday and the decider is on Wednesday.
