Kumble, Rajput, Amre appear for India coach interview

Former BCCI secretary Sanjay Jagdale helped the trio conduct the session.

Mumbai: The most sought-after job interview was underway at Taj Bengal in Kolkata on Tuesday – designation offered: head coach (Team India). Out of all the applicants Pravin Amre, Lalchand Rajput and Anil Kumble were spotted at the premises.

The prospective candidates had been asked to prepare a presentation to brighten their chances.

Kumble, Rajput and Amre interacted with the panel comprising Sourav Ganguly, VVS Laxman and Sachin Tendulkar who tuned in from London via video call.

Former BCCI secretary Sanjay Jagdale co-ordinated the process, helped the trio.

Sources told Deccan Chronicle that former Team India Director was interviewed via video call.

Ganguly, a part of the BCCI Advisory Committee, had to rush for a CAB Working Committee meeting at around 5 pm in the middle of the interviews.

The BCCI received 57 applications initially, the list was trimmed to 21. However, the panel is likely to forward their choice to president Anurag Thakur by June 22.

The candidate will be finalised on June 24 at the Working Committee Meeting in Dharamsala.
