Lucknow: It’s no doubt that Mahendra Singh Dhoni has a massive fan following all over the country. Starting from a fresh youngster with long hair to now emerging as the anchor of Team India, the Jharkhand wicketkeeper-batsman has always managed to win hearts.

Dhoni, who will now turn his sights to the Indian Premier League (IPL) by leading Chennai Super Kings (CSK) from the front was present at an event in Lucknow. However, what was about to follow is not what the veteran cricketer would have expected.

A young fan, who was invited to share the stage with Dhoni, suddenly arrived and touched his head with Dhoni’s feet. He soon was treated with a hug from his cricket icon and his day was made even better after the former India skipper gifted him a bat along with clicking a selfie.

On many occasions previously, on and off the field, Dhoni has encountered many such incidents.

Earlier this month, MS Dhoni found himself relegated from the top-paid bracket with the BCCI introducing an A+ category in the central contracts for which only five players, including skipper Virat Kohli, were picked.

The batting troika of Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and Shikhar Dhawan along with pacers Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Jasprit Bumrah were selected for the A+ category, which will ensure them annual contracts worth Rs seven crore each.

Dhoni and R Ashwin have been bracketed in the A category along with Ravindra Jadeja, Murali Vijay, Cheteshwar Pujara, Ajinkya Rahane and Wridhhiman Saha. These seven players would be eligible for a contract of Rs five crore.
