Watch: Umpire drags Chris Gayle away from the pitch
Bengaluru: He always loves to be in the midst of all the action and you just cannot take it away from him. But fans at the M Chinnaswamy stadium here on Sunday were left disappointed after they missed Jamaican heartthrob Chris Gayle’s no show with the willow in the ICC World T20 clash against Sri Lanka.
Add to that, why would an umpire drag him off the field?

It all started during the first innings. While fielding, Gayle pulled his hamstring and hence did not come out to bat in his usual position.

The vociferous crowd were really getting restless and chants of ‘We want Gayle’ reverberated across the stadium. They wanted to witness another Gayle storm as West Indies were busy chasing 123 runs.

Gayle walked out to bat when Denesh Ramdin was dismissed in the 13th over. However, fourth umpire Ian Gould stepped in and reminded him that he needed to wait for a bit longer to enter the field of play due to his absence in the first half of the match.

Gould signalled ‘two more minutes’ to the Windies bench and dragged Gayle off the field all in good spirits.
Gayle had exceeded the time he had been off the field during the Sri Lankan innings.
