MS Dhoni can surely play under Virat Kohli: Aakash Chopra
Chennai: Former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra feels that Virat Kohli should be made India captain across all formats, if selectors feel that MS Dhoni cannot continue till 2019 cricket World Cup.
Kohli’s Test side is unbeaten in the last 17 tests and the batsman has impressed with his leadership skills. Chopra thinks that if Kohli is made the ODI captain, Dhoni would have no issue playing under him.
“Yes, Dhoni can surely play under Kohli in ODI,” Chopra said during commentary of the India’s ongoing fifth and final Test against England in Chennai.
Chopra also suggested that selectors should take the call post the Champions trophy in 2017
“But that’s a call selectors need to take post the Champions trophy in 2017. If they don’t view Dhoni as a captain in 2019, it’s only fair to give Kohli two years before the event,” he added.
Dhoni, arguably India's greatest captain in the limited overs format led the team to victory in the World Twenty20 in 2007 and 2011 ICC ODI World Cup.
