Hyderabad Cricket Association face cheating case

Senior association member T Sheshnarayan lodged the police complaint.

Hyderabad: The Uppla police registered a case against seven members of the Hyderabad Cricket Association(HCA) on charges of cheating, criminal breach of trust, misappropriation of property and misuse of funds through forged documents and cash vouchers, resulting in a loss of Rs 120 crore to the association. Senior association member T Sheshnarayan lodged the police complaint.

Sheshnarayan named the seven as HCA joint secretary Purushottam Agarwal, secretary Devraj, president Arshad Ayub, member Adnan Mahmood, secretary John Manoj, vice president Yadagiri and another member Surya Prakash. He said cheating by the members became so rampant that BCCI had ordered a reputed auditing agency, Deloitte, to investigate into the "misdeeds". Following this, a confidential report was submitted to the BCCI in March 2016. However, the complainant said, his request to BCCI to give a copy of the report was rejected. Later, he managed to get a copy through court intervention.

"The report states that the persons were found to have fabricated documents, fudged the accounts, and avoided following the procedures in the calling of tenders,” he said.

He further alleged that the seven accused deliberately, and in a mala fide manner, conspired to cheat HCA, and fraud its public funds, causing a havoc loss to the Hyderabad Cricket Association of the order of Rs. 120 crore.
