Ind vs Eng, 2nd Test: India strike in last over, England end Day 4 at 87/2

England's fourth innings best in India is 312, they will have do the impossible in Vizag to win the second Test.

Visakhapatnam: England end Day 4 at 87/2 after being set a mammoth target of 405.

Day 4 was England's day, but for the last 10 overs. England openers dig deep and made Indian bowlers work very hard. The opening duo of Cook and Hameed frustrated Indian bowlers for 50 overs, however, things turned around for the hosts during the end of the day.

Offspinner Ashwin dismissed Hameed in the 51st over with a delivery that kept really low, and then just before the end of day's play, left-arm spinner Jadeja struck with the most prized wicket of Cook in the final over of the day.

Earlier today, English bowlers Stuart Broad and Adil Rashid claimed four wickets each to restrict India for 204 in their second innings. Captain Kohli missed out on a century as he was dismissed for 81.

England: 87/2 from 59.2 overs

Wicket! Jadeja strikes for India in the last over of the day. Cook trapped LBW before stumps for 54. That's the end of day's play.

England: 84/1 from 56 overs

Fifty comes up for Cook, his 53rd fifty in Tests. The captain is playing a valiant innings to rescue his team. But it's going to be tough, It's all happening out there. Few deliveries are drifting, while few are staying low.

Finally! India get a breakthrough, Ashwin dismisses Hameed LBW for 25. This one kept so low that the batsman could not have done anything. You got to feel for Hameed, the teenager played superbly.

A big appeal for LBW against Cook off Jadeja. The ball pitched in the rough and drifted sharphly inside and hit cook on the pads. Umpire Dharmasena gave not out, but India reviewed it. Replays showed the ball was just clipping the leg stump. Cook survives.

England: 55/0 from 43 overs

Not much happening out there. The English batsmen are blocking everything, with few overs left in the day. Cook is batting on 35, Hammed is on 20. India's premier spin duo Ashwin and Jadeja are back into the attack together.

The England openers are not trying anything adventurous and the run rate is still very low. The English team management, however, would not mind the scoring rate. Kohli deployed both the pacers after tea, but have now brought back Jadeja into the attack.

Umesh Yadav has opened the bowling for India after tea. The English team are 365 runs behind the target. They would be aiming to end today's play without losing a single wicket.

Visakhapatnam: England would be very happy with their start. Indian bowlers have failed to pick any wicket in this session, on a pitch where English bowlers dismissed seven Indian batsmen today. A lot of credit must go to Cook and Hameed, the openers are battling hard.

England have been out of the game for long in the second Test, but they have dominated India on day 4.

It's time for tea in Vizag. Cook is batting on 28, Hameed is not out on 12. They are fighting hard and they have given India nothing.

It's next to impossible to chase a target of 405 runs on this pitch and England are well aware of that. They are batting cautiously and have collected 31 runs in 21 overs at a run rate of 1.48. It's isn't about scoring runs anymore, is it?

English batsmen are under a lot of pressure. They have scored only one run in the last six overs. Both batsmen are batting on the score of 9. The spin duo of R Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja are operating for India.

England have made a cautious start here, exactly what is required. Cook is batting on 5, Hameed is unbeaten on 1. Yadav is extracting some good bounce off the pitch and hit Hameed on the gloves as he tried to defend a short ball.

Umesh Yadav will bowl the second over. Both pacers are operating for India.

Mohammed Shami will bowl the first over for India.

Alastair Cook and Haseeb Hammed are at the crease for England.

India added 106 runs in the morning session, but England would be very happy with their bowling effort. The visitors picked seven wickets in the first session. Virat Kohli top scored for India (81).

Kohli would be disappointed as he missed his century, Ben stokes took a spectacular catch to get rid of the Indian skipper.

Jayant Yadav made an unbeaten 27 lower down the order to help India's lead cross past the 400-run mark. Stuart Broad and Adil Rashid were England's most successful bowlers as they both picked 4 wickets each.

India: 204-all out from 63.1 overs

Stumped! Moeen Ali picks the last wicket. Tailender Mohammed Shami is stumped by Jonny Bairstow off Moeen Ali.

India: 184/9 from 60 overs

Jayant Yadav is looking very confident out there, playing cover drives, square cuts. The tailender is well assisted by Mohammed Shami. The lead is now close to 400-run mark. The morning session has been extended by 30 minutes as England are just one wicket away from wrapping up the Indian innings.

Out! Umesh Yadav did not trouble the scorers much, out fourth ball. Rashid picks up his fourth wicket. India now lead by 362 runs.

India: 162/8 from 52 overs

Out! Rashid to Jadeja, out caught by Moeen Ali. The pitch is getting tougher and tougher to bat, but Jadeja's dismissal had nothing to do with the pitch. Tried to hit a tossed up delivery by Rashid out of the park but ended up giving a catch to Ali in deep mid-wicket.

India: 159/7 from 49 overs

The lead is now over 350 runs but India have lost the big wicket of Kohli for 81. The skipper fell to Rashid. Kohli ended up edging one to first slip trying to drive a tossed up delivery by the legspinner. Ben Stokes pulled off a screamer at first slip to send Kohli back.

India: 148/6 from 46 overs

Ravindra Jadeja just hit Rashid for a six over long-on. The man is not afraid to play his shots. The lead is now close to 350. Broad and Rashid are operating for England. Kohli is batting on 79.

India: 130/6 from 43.1 overs

Another one! Adil Rashid to Wriddhiman Saha, out LBW. Rashid traps the Indian wicketkeeper before the stumps. Umpire K Dharmasena gave it out, but Saha wasn't convinced and he reviewed it. The replays, however, showed that he was out.

India: 127/5 from 42.1 overs

Out! Broad picks up another one, this time it's Ashwin. Broad pitched it outside off and Ashwin edged it to the wicketkeeper Bairstow. The batsman is gone for 7 runs.

India: 117/4 from 38.5 overs

Wicket! Stuart Broad removes Ajinkya Rahane for 26. It was a leg-cutter which bounced more than usual, surprising the batsman. Rahane ends up edging it to the slips. Cook is the catcher.

India: 100/3 from 35 overs

A glorious cover drive by Virat Kohli, batmen pick up two runs and India reach the 100-run mark in their second innings. India now lead by 300 runs.

Visakhapatnam: Welcome to Day 4 of second India-England Test in Vizag. The hosts ended the third day's play at 98/3. Captain Virat Kohli (56) and Ajinkya Rahane (22) are still unbeaten. The hosts lead by 298 runs and India will look to tighten their grip on the game.

The unbeaten 58-run stand between Kohli and Rahane pulled India out of danger after they were three wickets down for 40 runs. The bowling duo of James Anderson and Stuart Broad gave the perfect start to England. Broad picked up both the openers, while Anderson clinched the wicket of Cheteshwar Pujara.

England were bowled out for 255 on Saturday courtesy Ravichandran Ashwin’s 22nd five-wicket haul. The visitors made a defying start to day three as Ben Stokes and Jonny Bairstow dug deep. The pair put up a century stand, but it was Umesh Yadav, who broke the crucial partnership and opened the gates for India.

From there onwards, it was the spinners’ show. Ravindra Jadeja and Ashwin wiped off the English tail. Ashwin finished with a figure of 5/67.
