The Indian skipper surpassed the 1000 run mark in ODIs in England when he reached 27 in the tie. Kohli also smashed 51st half-century of his career. It was also his fourth half-century against Pakistan and third in World Cup history.
However, Kohli could reach his century as he walked off after thinking that he had nicked the ball to the keeper. But replays showed that Kohli had not edged the ball as was adjudged.
India are scheduled to face Afghanistan in their next encounter on June 22, Saturday.
