Mumbai: Pakistan wicketkeeper-batsman Kamran Akmal has urged Prime Minister Imran Khan to take action against the Pakistan cricket team for their abysmal performance against India in ICC World Cup 2019.

Pakistan had the chance to bat after winning the toss but skipper Sarfaraz had other plans. He chose to bat first against India.

The Men in Blue posted a massive score of 336 on the board with Rohit Sharma scoring 140 runs off 113 balls. KL Rahul and Virat Kohli also assisted him by playing knocks of 57 and 77 respectively.

In reply, Pakistan's batting order collapsed after the 104-run stand between Fakhar Zaman and Babar Azam. They eventually finished on 212 for six in 40 overs, losing the match to India by 89 runs. (DLS method)

Pakistan's chances to reach the semi-finals of the mega-event look very slim as they have gathered just three points from five games. Kamran Akmal has also criticised Sarfaraz Ahmed's captaincy along with requesting PM Imran Khan to take action against the whole team.

“Pakistan has not won any match in the World Cup, where they opted to chase. The only victory for greens caps came against the tournament favourites England, when we batted first and posted massive 300 plus runs on the board, while against West Indies, we were badly exposed and flattened at meagre 105. Our batting badly flopped and all the flaws were exposed by the opponents,” Kamran Akmal told the Nation.

“I request Prime Minister Imran Khan, who is also PCB patron, to start ruthless accountability and all those, who inflicted huge damages on Pakistan cricket, must face the music. We are blessed with so many natural cricketers, who, if selected on merit, can strengthen Pakistan batting and bowling and can take Pakistan team to a much higher level,” he added.
