The ICC, in its Handbook on page 19, has indicated the contrasting coloured kit for home and away matches.

Mumbai: Sri Lankan players may be hoping the new change of colour in clothing will change the fortune of the team in the ongoing World Cup.

"Our players will have a new jersey for the next two matches against England and India respectively on June 21 and July 6 at the Leeds", the team manager Ashantha de Mel said.

The ICC, in its Handbook on page 19 (Clothing and Equipment Rules and Regulations) has indicated the contrasting coloured kit for home and away matches.

"For televised ICC events all participating teams will be required to provide for two different coloured kits, except for the host country who has a preference in the choice of colour and may, if it chooses to do so, provide only one coloured kit to be worn in all matches throughout the event. In advance of the event, the teams will be notified which coloured kit will be worn in each match", the rule says.

"Yes, we have sent both coloured (regular blue and yellow) jerseys for the World Cup", the two officials- Nilan Handune , the Senior Executive-Branding & Communications, MAS Holdings (Pvt.) Ltd and Ms. Sharika Senanayake, speaking exclusively, said.

They also informed that even yellow jerseys, like regular blue ones, are made with 100 per cent recycled material from Sri Lanka.
