Hyderabad: Tanmay Agarwal hit a composed century to rescue Sporting XI while in the other match Mohammed Azharuddin did well with the ball in the Hyderabad Cricket Association’s Three-Day league matches being played in the city.
In the Group ‘A’ match, batting first, Sporting XI players struggled against the Deccan Chronicle attack led by M. Prudhvi who claimed 3 for 53. But Tanmay Agarwal stood firm on one end and played a steady 126-run innings. In his 265-ball stint, he hit 10 boundaries and four sixes as Sporting finished the day’s play at 229 for 7 from 90 overs.
Meanwhile in a Group ‘B’ match, Ensconse’s Azharuddin bowled some brilliant spells but an overall contribution helped Cambridge XI finish at 301/9 in 88 overs at stumps.
Using the crease first, Cambridge were well on course to putting up a strong total but regular wickets from Azharuddin put brakes on the scoring rate. Azharuddin picked 4 for 27. J. Mallikarjun (65) and Aaris Zaidi (61) scored half-centuries for Cambridge while Aamir Malik (42), Alankrit (33) and V. Sathwik Reddy (35 batting) played supporting roles.
