New Delhi: Delhi Daredevils knocked out Mumbai Indians of the tournament as they beat the defending champions by  11 runs in the 55th match of the Indian Premier League here on Sunday.

Being set a target of 175 to chase, the only positive for the defending champions was a 31-ball 48 by Evin Lewis, who missed out on his third IPL fifty.

Even captain Rohit Sharma was dismissed for an unlucky 13, whereas Hardik Pandya managed just 27 runs.

Young Nepal spinner Sandeep Lamichhane was the star of DD’s bowling, having finished his four-over spell with 3-36.

Amit Mishra, too, looked qually impressive after he finished his spell with 3-19.

Meanwhile, Ishan Kishan (5), Kieron Pollard (7) and Krunal Pandya were some of the unfortunate batsmen to have been dismissed in single figures.

MI 121-6 from 13.5 overs

WICKET! Harshal Patel strikes as he gets the crucial wicket of captain Rohit Sharma, as Trent Boult completes a catch at long-off.

MI 80-5 from 10 overs

Sandeep Lamichhane is on fire here, as he has just taken two wickets to dismiss Kieron Pollard (7 runs) and Krunal Pandya (4). The Nepal youngster has struck just at the halfway stage to give hosts the upper hand.

MI 57-2 from 6.1 overs

WHAT A CATCH! Vijay Shankar takes a stunner at long-on to dismiss Ishan Kishan for five runs, as Amit Mishra strikes.

MI 13-1 from 1 over

WICKET! Suryakumar Yadabv is dismissed for 12 runs by Sandeep Lamichhane as Vijay Shankar takes a fantastic catch at long-on. Surely a flying start for MI, but DD have struck early.

DD innings

Rishab Pant played an entertaining innings as he led Delhi Daredevils to 174-4 in their Indian Premier League match against Mumbai Indians here on Sunday.

DD lost Prithvi Shaw (12 runs) and Glenn Maxwell (22) in the early stages of the game. They soon lost Shreyas Iyer (6), too, but, Pant and Vijay Shankar put up a 64-run stand, only for Pant (64) to be dismissed.

However, Vijay Shankar came to the rescue as he, along with Abhishek Sharma (15 not out) put up a 35-run partnership to take the hosts to a respectable total.

Krunal Pandya, Jasprit Bumrah and Mayank Markande finished with one wicket each.

DD: 140/4 from 17 overs:

WICKET! That's the end of Pant blitz. Krunal Pandya strikes to end a fascinating knock from the DD youngster. Pant departs for 64 as Pollard takes an easy catch.

DD: 120/3 from 15 overs:

FIFTY! The superb run of form continues for Rishabh Pant! He is toying with the MI attack. If he goes bonkers from here on, DD may well score more than 190.

DD: 75/3 from 9 overs:

WICKET! Short ball from Mayank Markande and that has given MI their 3rd wicket! Iyer rocks back and tries to whack it over the mid-wicket. But Krunal takes a neat catch.

DD: 39/1 from 5 overs:

WICKET! Bowled’em! Jasprit Bumrah has disturbed the timber and Maxwell, the opener, experiment does not work. DD 2 down.

DD: 33/1 from 4 overs:

WICKET! That’s lazy from Prithvi Shaw! Glenn Maxwell hits one to the points fieldsman Shaw just saunters out of the crease, then quite lazily tries to return. But Hardik Pandya’s direct hit means it’s curtains for Shaw.

Shreyas Iyer won the toss and decided that hosts Delhi Daredevils would bat against Mumbai Indians.

Both teams made one change each. For DD, Liam Plunkett replaces Avesh Khan, whereas Mustafizur Rahman comes in for Mitchell McClenaghan, who has suffered a shoulder injury.

Here is how the teams lineup for today's match:

A place in the playoff is at stake for Rohit Sharma and his men as Mumbai Indians (MI) take on the hosts Delhi Daredevils (DD) in the second last game of the league stage of the Indian Premier League (IPL) at the Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium here on Sunday.

While DD have lost the playoffs’ race a long time back, they can spoil MI’s party and register their sixth win at the venue against the Mumbai franchise. MI, on the other hand will be eager to win their 12th win (overall) against DD and seal their place in the playoffs; unless Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) beat Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by a big margin and take a major leap in terms of their net run-rate.

MI will pin their hopes on skipper, Rohit. While he had a few good outings in this year’s IPL, he has failed to register big scores. A virtual knockout before knockouts would be an ideal occasion for the MI skipper to turn the tide in MI’s favour. At the same time, MI will also hope that their star-studded bowling line-up, led by Jasprit Bumrah, comes good.

DD, meanwhile, will bank on Rishabh Pant, who has been a shining light in their otherwise disappointing campaign, to spoil MI’s party.
