BCCI has one more lifeline: AK Patnaik

Before retiring in June 2014, A.K. Patnaik was on the bench which heard the spot-fixing allegations in the IPL.

Mumbai: Even if the BCCI’s review petition against the reformation of the Lodha panel recommendations gets dismissed by the Supreme Court, the cricket board has one more lifeline, according to A.K. Patnaik, the former Supreme Court judge.

“The Indian cricket board has one more option left and they can still file a curative petition (if the review petition gets dismissed),” said Patnaik.

Before retiring in June 2014, A.K. Patnaik was on the bench which heard the spot-fixing allegations in the IPL.

“I will not be surprised if the BCCI explores this last option also,” Rahul Mehra, the sports lawyer, who has been following the Indian cricket board’s defiance against the Lodha panel recommendations, said.

Mehra said “more skeletons will tumble out in the final order.” “The judgement of July 18 should be binding now. It was given by the apex court and is bigger than the order. There is no time limit for the release of the reserved order. But whatever order is pending is for the small and petty issues and the same will not be delayed,” Mehra added.
