Virat Kohli breaks two records in one single T20I match versus South Africa
Mumbai: On Wednesday, the cricket fans of India witnessed yet another historic moment when India defeated South Africa in the second T20I to take a 1-0 lead in the three-match T20I series, in which one game got abandoned due to rain.
In Mohali, Indian skipper Virat Kohli registered yet another feat when he scored an unbeaten 72 to guide India home. Kohli’s unbeaten knock led him to his 11th Man of the Match award in shortest format of the game.
With this knock, the 30-year-old has also equalled former Pakistani cricketer Shahid Afridi, who also had won 11 Man of the match awards himself. Afridi, the 2009 ICC WT20 champion once used to entertain fans with his all-round T20I performances.
Nevertheless, Kohli’s unbeaten innings has helped to join the second spot with the former Paksitani player, who had won the MoM award 11 times. The duo is now behind Afghanistan’s veteran Mohammad Nabi.
Moreover, Kohli’s knock of 72* also took him past his teammate Rohit Sharma in the list of highest run-getters in the shortest format. Kohli now has 50 plus average in all formats and he remains the only cricketer to register this feat.
