Here's why Twitter slammed Australia's Dean Jones post Team India's Chennai ODI win
Chennai: Former Australia skipper Dean Jones faced the wrath of Team India fans on Twitter after he made a bold remark on Virat Kohli’s side during the 1st ODI vs Australia on Sunday.
After enduring a miserable start early on, the Men in Blue posted 281 on board thanks to crucial half-centuries from Hardik Pandya and MS Dhoni. But as constant drizzle at the Chepauk Stadium threatened the contest, a revised target of 164 was set for the visitors to chase in 21 overs.
In reply, the Australians failed to held their nerves and lost wickets at regular intervals to give away the game by 26 runs in the end through the Duckworth-Lewis method.
However, earlier during the second innings, Jones felt that India’s chances of victory were dependant on the rains.
So I see India needed a bit of rain to win that game. Ok ... bring on Game 2 @StarSportsIndia #Wearecoming #INDvAUS

The tweet did not go down well with many fans who instantly trolled him for his cocky statement.
Australia not bein able to chase 160 in 21 overs ?? TooBad a T20 side,arent they ?? @ProfDeano

Stop your schoolboy excuses..this s international cricket..
— HAJI (@Tweet_Haji) September 18, 2017
You mentioned T20. We're not great at T20, but it wasn't a T20 game. Just saying. No need to get angry. The rain didn't help us. Just saying

Another brain fade moment for another Australian 😂

161 runs from 126 balls is not that difficult, especially with Warner, Smith and maxwell in that line-up. He just has accept that they lost

Sir you should take advice from specialists to improve your "digestion" problem 😂😂

Rains are always good for the team batting second, U shud hv some cricketing knowledge to know that which I am afraid u don't. #INDvsAUS
— Varun Garg 🇮🇳 (@IamV_Garg) September 18, 2017
They knew they have 50 overs, & Aus also knew they have 21. It wud hv been bad if in between the Aus innings there was a decision as pee DLS

Thought without rain India would have won more convincingly 😀

Never seen an Aussie legend looking for excuses to defend losing cricket match #ChangingTimes

Well, rain helped you draw the Melbourne test match in 1985-86, which India would've surely won.
— Anil Hanagud (@anilhanagud) September 18, 2017
After 5-0 prof will b like " India need home soil to win against mighty Aussi" 😂😂
— Rohan(De other side) (@xena_pulse) September 18, 2017
So I see #Australia struggled to bat 21 overs. I wonder how long would they survive in a 50 over game #AUSvIND #INDvAUS #INDvAUS
— Kaukab Abid (@Kaukab_Abid) September 18, 2017
Aussie haven't won a single game in (away matches) in last 11 matches, because of rain I guess..

Aussie skipper Steve Smith also felt that playing with two new balls made it hard for the visitors.
"I think 160 with one new ball would have made things a lot easier. When you have two new balls from both ends, as we saw throughout the game it was a new-ball wicket," Smith said during a press conference.
