On this day: Yuvraj Singh's six sixes off Stuart Broad

On September 19, 2007 Yuvraj Singh smashed six sixes off an over against England.

Mumbai: Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh is an indomitable personality, and is known for living life on his own terms. The flamboyant batsman was in ‘god mode’ throughout the 2011 ICC Cricket World Cup, guiding the host nation to their second ODI World Cup.

The southpaw won the Man of the Tournament award for his exemplary performances in 2011 ICC Word Cup. He did all of this while he was suffering from cancer. The man beat cancer and came back to play for India.

But among all of his achievements, the one that will forever remain the top most is the battering he delivered to Stuart Broad in the 2007 World T20. On this day (September 19) in 2007, Yuvraj smashed six sixes off an over.

India got off to a great start batting first against England, with both Virender Sehwag and Gautam Gambhir scoring half-centuries. The plan was to end the innings on a high note and Yuvraj did exactly that.

Staurd Broad, who bowled the 19th over, paid the price for the altercation Andrew Flintoff had with Yuvraj moments before the over started. A charged up Yuvraj showed no mercy on the young bowler as he hit the first ball for a huge six over the deep mid-wicket.

The second one was dispatched behind square on the leg-side, third one went over the cover.

Broad was rattled and decided to come around wicket, the result however was the same. Yuvraj hit the fourth delivery over the point for another six.

Back home in India, everyone was glued to their television sets. Broad bowled the sixth ball and Yuvraj created history by hitting it out of the park for the sixth six of the over.

A mind-blowing over and Yuvraj became the first batsman to hit six sixes in a T20 game.
