India skipper Virat Kohli's class in post-match interview wins Pakistan fans' hearts

Virat Kohli-led Indian side lost the final by 180 runs as Pakistan clinched their maiden ICC Champions Trophy title.

London: He may have faltered in the final clash of the ICC Champions Trophy clash against Pakistan but Team India skipper Virat Kohli won hearts of the Pakistani fans with his comments in the post-match interview on Sunday.

The Sarfraz Ahmed-led side dethroned India as it clinched 180-run win to lift their maiden ICC Champions Trophy title at The Oval in London on Sunday. While Fakhar Zaman starred with the bat, Mohammad Amir played a big role as he dismissed Rohit Sharma, Kohli and Shikhar Dhawan to help Pakistan complete a big win.

While Kohli, who has a fantastic record in chases in limited-overs cricket, could only score five runs as India lost the plot, he showed class as he did not hold back anything while praising Pakistan.

"I want to congratulate Pakistan, they had an amazing tournament, the way they turned things around, speak volumes for the talent they have,” said Kohli at the post-match presentation ceremony.

"They proved it again, they can upset anyone on their day, disappointing for us but I have a smile on my face because we played well to reach the final," added the Indian skipper.

Kohli was lauded by more than handful of people from Pakistan, including politicians for his “sportsmanship” and for showing grace even after a defeat.

It was not just that Kohli was praised by those across the border, the Indian skipper was lauded for his gesture by cricketing legends like Shane Warner and Brendon McCullum.
