IPL 2018, RR vs RCB: Shreyas Gopal stars as RR knock out RCB by 30 runs

Score after 19.2 overs, RCB 134 all out, Yuzvendra Chahal 0*, Shreyas Gopal 4/16, Ben Laughlin 2/15.

Jaipur: Royal Challengers Bangalore were knocked out of the Indian Premier League after suffering a 30-run loss to Rajasthan Royals here on Saturday.

RCB seemed to struggle during their run chase, with AB de Villiers (53) and Shreyas Iyer (33) being the only top performers.

Virat Kohli opened the batting, but could only manage four runs.

Shreyas Gopal was the star for the hosts, finishing with a spell of 4-16. Meanwhile, Krishnappa Gowtham and Ish Sodhi picked up one wicket each.

Earlier, RR posted a total of 164-5 courtesy an unbeaten 80 by opener Rahul Tripathi.

With RCB officially eliminated, RR must hope that other results go their way in order to advance for playoffs.

RCB 108-8 from 15.2 overs

RCB are on the verge of elimination here, as they have continued to lose wickets. The major blow for the visitors have come in the form of AB de Villiers (53), whose dismissal has got the hosts back in the game.

RCB 96-5 from 12 overs

RCB are in deep trouble right now, having lost four quick wickets in Parthiv Patel (33), Moeen Ali (1), Mandeep Singh (3 ) and Colin de Grandhomme (2).

WICKET! Terrific start for Rajasthan Royals, K Gowtham removes Virat Kohli for just 4 runs. Once again a quicker delivery going between bat and pad as Kohli tries to break the shackle by coming down the track.

Rahul Tripathi’s brilliant performance with the bat (80 runs) helped Rajasthan Royals reach 164-5 in 20 over’s against Royal Challengers Bangalore during Indian Premier League match at Sawai Man Singh Stadium in Jaipur on Sunday.

Electing to bat first RR lost Jofra Archer to Umesh Yadav in the very first over without a single run on the board. Rahul Tripathi and skipper Ajinkya Rahane then put on 99 run stand for the second wicket before Rahane (33 runs) was adjudged LBW to Umesh Yadav. Sanju Samson failed to trouble the scoreboard as he was dismissed for golden duck by the same bowler.

Heinrich Klaasen (32 runs) along with Rahul Tripathi counterattacked RCB bowlers as both of them put on crucial 48 run stand just when it looked like RCB will take the game away. Gowtham too used long handle as he scored quickfire 14 runs to help RR go past 160 run mark.

Umesh Yadav have made it a habit to picking up wickets at crucial juncture. Two wickets in two balls in the 14 over has brought RCB back in game. First he got rid of RR skipper Ajinkya Rahane and then he dismissed Sanju Samson for a golden duck .

After losing early wicket Tripathy and Rahane have played really well to steady teams innings. The platform is set for other batters to play big shots. Will RR be able to post huge score or crumble in final overs.

RR 45-1 after 6 overs

After losing the wicket on the fourth ball of the first ball,skipper Rahane and Tripathy have ensured there are no furthur hiccups as both of them have managed to put up 44 run stand so far.

RR 2-1 after 2 overs

WICKET! Promoting Jofra Archer to the opening slot does not seem to have worked as he is dismissed for a duck. Umesh Yadav strikes early as he ends the over with a wicket maiden.

The host make three changes with Ben Laughlin, Heinrich Klaasen and Shreyas Gopal coming into the side.

Royal Challengers Bangalore field the same playing XI

Jaipur: A virtual semi-final on cards as Rajasthan Royals host Royal Challengers Bangalore at Sawai Man Singh stadium in Jaipur. Whichever team looses will be knocked out of the ournament, while the other team will hope for other results to go in their favour to give a significant chance of making it to the playoff.

Inspite off al the buzz happening in an around the game, the match will also witness some top names missing from the RR side. The host will be without the England duo of Jos Buttler and Ben Stokes who have returned home to prepare for trhe upcoming series against Pakistan.

South African wicket keeper Heinrich Klassen, who hasn't had many opportunities might get a look in , while a strong performance by Ish Sodhi also keeps him in contention. The RR will be ensuring to field in right combination as the matter lies in their own hands .

With Buttler missing from today’s game RCB will fancy their chances of winning the game and make a strong case for the play-off spot. RCB's positive net run-rate holds leaves them in good stead for a final four finish. The host will have to beat Virat Kohli’s side by a huge margin to stand any chances of qualifying for the knockout stage.
