Wrong replay puts broadcasters in focus
Mumbai: TV umpire was shown the wrong replay by IPL broadcasters, Star Sports, during the match between Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore, reports espncricinfo.com.
Jasprit Bumrah got away without scrutiny when he dismissed Umesh Yadav, the eighth Royal Challengers batsman to fall, on Tuesday. The on-field umpire immediately asked to see if he had overstepped. The replay shown, though, has Umesh at the non-striker’s end, and the heel of Bumrah’s front foot lands well inside the crease.
It went unnoticed that Umesh was in the picture at the non-striker’s end until Twitter user @ronak_169 brought it to ESPNcricinfo’s notice.
So I was just watching the replay of Umesh Yadav getting out. When they checked for the no ball, they showed Umesh Yadav on non strike. @imVkohli @IPL @StarSportsIndia #Fail #Cheat @RCBTweets pic.twitter.com/WVBO1s9YrP

While this was not significant to the result, it did bring into sharp focus how broadcast errors can lead to wrong decision and could prove costly in crucial stages of the game.
