HCA set to meet again on Lodha

The High Court has asked the Hyderabad Cricket Association to inform it by Tuesday.

Hyderabad: A division bench of the Hyderabad High Court comprising Acting Chief Justice Ramesh Ranganathan and K. Vijaya Lakshmi has directed the Hyderabad Cricket Association to inform it by Tuesday, April 24, the date on which the cricket body proposes to hold its General Body Meeting to adopt the Justice Lodha Committee recommendations.

During the course of arguments, the Bench further said based on the report submitted by the Committee of Administrators, it would decide whether or not to order a forensic audit or reinvestigation into the alleged misappropriation of funds in the HCA (from 2014 to 2018) by premier agencies like the CBI or Serious Fraud Investigation.

That leaves the HCA to convene a General Body Meeting and adopt the Lodha panel recommendations in the presence of BCCI observers and the High Court-appointed Committee of Administrators (Retd) Justices A. R. Dave and G. V. Seethapathy to achieve final clarity.

It also means the amended bye-laws in the Special General Meetings held on Janury 7, 2018, November 20 and July 2, 2017 stand in suspended animation.
Be that as it may, Treasurer P. Mahendra has resigned from his post citing lack of funds in the cricket body. It may be recalled that the BCCI has not released funds to the Hyderabad Cricket Association owing to opacity in the adoption of Lodha reforms.
