Tragedy strikes! 20-year-old cricketer in Kerala dies on field, captured on video

The incident happened when the player was in his run-up while approaching the crease .

Kerala: Fatal Injuries and health issues have become major concern for cricketers. Over the last few years cricketers have lost their lives on field. One of the most tragic incidents which shocked the cricketers and cricket fans all around the world was the demise of Australian cricketer Phil Hughes.

The 25-year-old Australian batsman was hit by a ball hit on the back of his head during a Sheffield Shield game. The cricketer failed to recover from the hit and succumbed to his injuries

In a tragic turn of events, a cricketer, playing in a local match in Kerala, died on the field due to cardiac arrest. The incident happened when the player was in his run-up.

The player is identified as Padmanabh who fell on the ground after suffering from cardiac arrest. The whole incident was reported by a news channel News9, which posted video on their Facebook handle where the player could be seen collapsing.

Padmanabh, who was bowling at that time was ready to bowl another ball, but as he approached the crease he probably suffered the cardiac arrest and collapsed on the ground.

The umpire, standing next to him, was quick to react and check upon him. Other players also rushed to the spot as nobody understood what was happening. The said cricketer was rushed to the hospital but he could not survive.

Before this incident, Bengal’s Ankit Kesari died due on-field injuries. The young cricketer had collided with a teammate while fielding and suffered head injuries during the Cricket Association of Bengal’s Division 1 knockout match between East Bengal and Bhowanipore.
