Watch: Wriddhiman Saha pulls off MS Dhoni-esque run out

Visakhapatnam: Freakish run-out is the hallmark of MS Dhoni’s wicketkeeping, but this time it was Test wicketkeeper Wriddhiman Saha’s turn.

Saha’s incredible effort to run out Haseeb Hameed, the second wicket of England’s first innings in the second Test resulted into a mini batting collapse. The wicketkeeper, who is otherwise known to stick to his basics, showed that he has picked up some tricks from Dhoni.

Joe Root pushed one from Ravindra Jadeja towards the mid-wicket region. Debutant Jayant Yadav was quick to the ball and released it to the striker’s end as he slid to collect the ball.

Yadav’s alertness caught Root and Hameed off guard as they were looking for a second run. Root refused to go for the second while Hamed was already down the pitch.

Hameed was forced to dive as he hoped to save his wicket, however, he was outfoxed by Saha. The wicketkeeper stepped a little forward from the stumps and back-flipped the ball onto the stumps as soon as he collected the ball.

The dive from Hameed went in vain and the superb effort helped India to make inroads into England’s batting line-up.

England ended the second day’s play at 103/5, and still trail India by 352 runs.
