Everyone knows the special connect that MS Dhoni has with Chennai. The cricketer was the captain of the IPL team Chennai Super Kings for many years — and under his captaincy, CSK won the IPL twice (‘10, ‘11) as well as the Champions League Twenty20 in 2010 and 2014. Though hearts broke when he signed on to Rising Pune Supergiants following CSK’s suspension, Dhoni still enjoys a frenzied fan following in namma ooru — to rival any Kollywood celebrity.
Whenever he comes to the city as part of playing for India or for the IPL, MSD makes it a point to go out for a drive with his team-mates. While gearing up for the promotion of his biopic M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story, starring Sushant Singh Rajput, Dhoni has ensured that he will not miss out on Chennai!
A source told us, “While the trailer was first launched in Jalandhar as all the bats are made there, he told the team to include Chennai in the forthcoming tours.
The same day, the trailer was unveiled in Mumbai. Sushant and Dhoni are going to visit many cities in the coming weeks and one thing was very clear — Chennai shouldn’t be missed out.”
His new home, which is in the making at Ranchi, is also keeping the cricketer busy. As for Sushant playing the title role, Dhoni said that he is happy with all the rushes that he has seen.
The source continues, “Chennai has been included in the travel list, as Dhoni still shares a special connection with the city. It will most likely start by the end of this month. The final schedule and other cities which they will be touring, is yet to be decided.”
