When Karun Nair was rescued as boat capsized
Pathanamathitta: While he is earning laurels for his double hundred against England in the ongoing Test in Chennai, in a terrifying situation, in July this year, young Indian cricketer Karun Nair escaped the jaws of death when he had a narrow escape as the snake boat he was travelling in capsized in river Pampa in Kerala.
According to media reports two youth went missing from the boat which was carrying around 100 people, police said.
Nair along with others were engaged in temple festival, "Valla Sadya', a celebration of the Sree Parthasarathy Temple.
The accident took place at 11.45 am on July 17 when the boat was about to reach near Aranmulala temple for the offering. Rescue boats reached the spot and took people on board.
An official attached to the Aranmula Police station confirmed that Nair was in the snake boat.
"The boat capsized and immediate rescue services was undertaken and managed to rescue all passengers, while two are still missing," the official told mediapersons.
24-year-old Nair plays for Karnataka in domestic cricket and also was part of the second string Indian team led by MS Dhoni that toured Zimbabwe recently.
