Virat Kohli is all praise for demonetisation
Visakhapatnam: Prime Minister Narendra Modi appears to have a great fan in Virat Kohli, Team India’s Test captain. The batsman on Wednesday described the Prime Minister’s demonetisation move as “the greatest” in the country's political history.
The Indian skipper is in Vizag city to lead Team India against England in the city’s maiden Test to be played at the Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium at PM Palem from Thursday.
Responding to a question on demonetisation of Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 currency notes, the star batsman said, “It is unbelievable decision. It is the greatest move I have seen in the history of Indian politics.”
With Modi’s decision, the Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 notes have been reduced to mere papers only after demonetisation. Kohli said he could now autograph them and distribute them to his fans at different venues.
“While paying the hotel bill at Rajkot, where we played first Test was played, I took out Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 notes and then I realized they were of no use now. I could have actually signed on the old notes and given them away. They are that useless now,” Kohli said.
