Air Force come out flying to capture Services Cup

Air Force rode on Rajat’s century (101) in the first innings to make 310 and then romped through the second with 50 for 1 to grab the trophy.

Hyderabad: Air Force came out flying colours to win the 68th Inter services cricket championship that concluded here on Monday. In the four-day final played at the Gymkhana ground, they sank Navy by nine wickets.

Shadab Nazar was the star performer for the winners. He took seven wickets in the first innings and six in the second for an impressive match haul of 13 for 122 as Navy were bowled out for 130 and 226 in their two innings after electing to bat first.

Air Force rode on Rajat’s century (101) in the first innings to make 310 and then romped through the second with 50 for 1 to grab the trophy.

Anshul Gupta (50) and Mohit (77) scored a half-century each for Navy in the second innings while Arjun Sharma made 52 for Air Force in the first essay.

Brief scores: Navy 130 in 45.2 overs (Shamsher 20, Mohit Ahlawat 37, Nakul Sharma 48, Shadab Nazar 7/47) and 226 in 53.2 overs (Anshul Gupta 50, Abhijit Salvi 28, Nakul Sharma 29, Mohit 77, Nitin Tanwar 33, Shadab Nazar 6/75, Roshan Raj 2/58) lost to Air Force 310 in 134.1 overs (Mumtaz 37, Rajat 101, Arjun Sharma 52, Nishan Singh 2/37, Varun Chaudhuri 3/87, Nitin Tanwar 2/48) and 50 for 1 in 7.5 overs (Mumtaz 34).
