Watch: The South Remembers! Chennai's Chepauk's rapturous applause for MS Dhoni

Mahendra Singh Dhoni bailed India out of trouble, notching up a 118-run partnership with Hardik Pandya.

Chennai: Mahendra Singh Dhoni may hail from Ranchi, but Chennai seems to be his second home. The former India captain had garnered a great deal of popularity in the Tamil Nadu capital, after his eight-season stint with the Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League.

During his stint with the franchise, Dhoni had lead CSK to two IPL and one Champions League T20 titles.

Naturally, the former India and CSK captain still gets a rapturous applause, whenever he is in Chennai.

That was quite evident when the middle-order batsman walked out on the pitch at the Chepauk Stadium in Chennai, in the first ODI between India and Australia.

India were in a spot of bother at 64-4, when Dhoni walked out to bat on the 17th over, with Kedar Jadhav at the other end.

However, Dhoni bailed the Men in Blue out of trouble, notching up a 118-run partnership with Hardik Pandya, to take India to a respectable score.

The Chepauk gave quite the rapturous applause to Dhoni, the moment he walked out on the stadium.
