BENGALURU: India U-19 cricket team captain Priyam Garg believes that the team is unfazed with the pressure of being the defending champion and is optimistic about the team’s chances in the U-19 World Cup which would commence from January 17, next year in South Africa. He along with the coach Paras Mhambrey was addressing the media on Sunday before departing to South Africa.
Paras, who has been with the coaching staff previously (worked with U-19 and India A side) emphasized the process to yield a successful result. “The process is very important, which we observed last time also. The preparation started a year and a half back, before the World Cup campaign. “
“A similar process has been adopted out here. That is the focus. The focus is on how the process is and kind of how you want to take it through”, Paras said.
Mohammad Kaif, Virat Kohli, Unmukt Chand, and Prithvi Shaw led the Indian team to victory in the previous editions of the World Cup. 19-year Priyam Garg would hope to emulate the same and he had talks with Shaw about the implementation during the tournament.
