Ind vs SL: Ishant Sharma released from hosts' side, to play for Delhi in Ranji Trophy

Ishant Sharma has played three matches for Delhi in Ranji Trophy this season, taking 12 wickets, including a five-wicket haul.

Mumbai: Pacer Ishant Sharma was on Thursday was released from the Virat Kohli-led Indian Test team for the first Test against Sri Lanka, which is currently being played at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.

The 29-year-old pacer will represent Delhi in their upcoming Ranji Trophy game against Maharashtra, starting on Friday, after which he will join back the Indian side for the second Test starting on November 24 at Nagpur.

“Ishant will be reaching Delhi by evening and he will be leading the side. Rishabh Pant will be his deputy. We have got confirmation,” Delhi team manager Shankar Saini was quoted saying to PTI.

Ishant, who played his last Test against Australia in March this year, has played three matches for Delhi so far, taking 12 wickets, including a five-wicket haul.
