Mumbai: Three years ago on this day, Sachin Tendulkar, the ‘God of cricket’ bid adieu to the game. Tendulkar brought an end to his career against West Indies in Mumbai in 2013. The Little Master’s last international game was also his 200th Test, which India won by an innings and 126 runs.
The Master Blaster scored 34,357 runs during his whole international career and is the only batsman to score hundred centuries. During his playing career, Tendulkar created numerous memorable moments for cricket fans. With his farewell speech, the batsman created another one of them, a speech that left us teary eyed.
Relive the emotional speech.
If you don’t have the time to listen the entire speech, here’s the part where he thanked his fans.
"I know I have met so many guys who have fasted for me, prayed for me, done so much for me. Without that life wouldn't have been like this for me.
"I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart, and also say that time has flown by rather quickly, but the memories you have left with me will always be with me forever and ever, especially "Sachin, Sachin" which will reverberate in my ears till I stop breathing. Thank you very much. If I have missed out on saying something, I hope you understand. Goodbye."
