Mumbai: Pakistan all-rounder Shoaib Malik recently recalled an incident where he and Saeed Ajmal had a mix-up while attempting a catch during an ODI against West Indies in 2008.

In a show called Voice of Cricket, Shoaib recalled an incident when Virat Kohli and Yuvraj Singh had asked him about the same after the ICC Champions Trophy 2017 final, during the presentation ceremony.

"We were playing the Champions Trophy final against India. Post the final, in the prize distribution, Yuvraj Singh, Virat Kohli, Azhar (bowling coach Azhar Mahmood) and myself were laughing. We all were discussing the same catch and laughing", the 36-year-old said.

When Kohli asked him what Ajmal’s reaction was following the hilarious incident, Shoaib said, "That catch was Chris Gayle's. I asked Ajmal 'if you had positioned yourself to take the catch, why did you pull out at the last moment'? He told me that he waited crouched on the ground to take the catch just in case you (Shoaib Malik) drop it."

India lost to Pakistan by 180 runs in the summit Champions Trophy clash last year, with Fakhar Zaman top-scoring with 114 runs in the match.
