NZ pacer Tim Southee equals Sachin Tendulkar\'s tally of sixes in Test cricket

Southee smashed a six off Dhananjaya de Silva\'s delivery to equal Tendulkar\'s tally of 69 sixes in Test cricket.

Mumbai: Tim Southee's sole six in the first innings of the Test between Sri Lanka and New Zealand helped him surpass Sachin Tendulkar in the tally of sixes in Test cricket.

Southee smashed a six off Dhananjaya de Silva's delivery to equal Tendulkar's tally of 69 sixes in Test cricket. Southee took 66 matches and 96 innings to achieve the feat while Tendulkar achieved it after playing 200 Tests and 329 innings.

Southee has already surpassed former cricketers AB de Villiers, Sanath Jayasuriya and Ian Botham in the list of most sixes in Test cricket.

The 30-year-old has amassed 1550 runs in Test cricket, with the highest score of an unbeaten 77. He has also scored five half-centuries and scalped 244 wickets in his Test career.

For India, Virender Sehwag tops the list with 91 sixes, followed by MS Dhoni (78).
