Mumbai: As India celebrated its 72nd Independence Day on Wednesday, many athletes from the sports fraternity sent heartfelt wishes to their followers. However, joining them was former Pakistan cricket team captain Shahid Afridi who won the hearts of many Indian fans.
The veteran all-rounder took to Twitter and expressed his desire for both nations to unite further in a peaceful manner.
"Happy Independence Day to #India, our neighbors across the border. I sincerely hope that from this year onwards, both Pakistan and India work towards resolving their issues for a better, peaceful and prosperous region where India Pak cricket matches can also be frequently held," he wrote.
