Ravi Shastri has complete faith in Team India and brings positivity: Umesh Yadav

The fast bowler has backed new coach Ravi Shastri to bring success to Indian cricket.

Mumbai: Indian speedster Umesh Yadav has had a busy schedule in the past one year. The 29-year-old bowler has emerged as a vital cog in Virat Kohli’s side and has been one of the fast bowlers to regularly feature alongside Bhuvneshwar Kumar in all three formats.

After the Cricket Advisory Committee of Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly and VVS Laxman appointed former Indian team director Ravi Shastri as the new head coach ahead of the likes of Virender Sehwag and Tom Moody, many fans stated his relation with Indian captain Kohli to be the cause for his selection. But Umesh Yadav is also one of those who is happy about Shastri’s appointment.

“Ravi Bhai is a superb coach because he is positive at all times and has complete faith in the team. The best thing about him is that he's one of the boys and is extremely friendly. Whatever the circumstances, he doesn't allow anybody to veer into the negative zone. These qualities make him so special" the Vidarbha pacer told the Times of India.

Umesh also spoke about team India’s recent performances in the Caribbean Islands and is wasting no time preparing for the season ahead after returning to India.

“"It gives me huge satisfaction to come home after the mission has been accomplished successfully. West Indies tour was really good. And now it's a long cricket season ahead, so I have to be prepared and ready,” added Umesh.

The fast bowler will fly along with the Indian team to play a three-match Test series in Sri Lanka commencing on 26th July.
